Why does Deku need my location?

Cash tournaments are only allowed in certain states, so the app confirms where you are before you play for cash. VPNs, proxies and location spoofing are not allowed.

Applies to every Deku gameUpdated September 15, 2026

How the check works

Before you play for cash, the app asks for permission to use your location while the app is open. We compare your device's GPS location with your internet connection and look for VPNs and proxies. If you are in an eligible state, cash play opens up.

The check runs once per app session. Close and reopen the app to run it again.

If the check fails

  • "Cash tournaments aren't available" means you are outside an eligible state right now. Free tournaments still work.
  • "Location couldn't be verified" usually has a quick fix:
    • Turn on Location Services and allow Deku to use your location
    • Turn off any VPN, proxy or private relay
    • Connect to a normal Wi-Fi or mobile network, then reopen the app

VPNs and travel

Hiding or faking your location is not allowed. Entries made that way are voided, prizes are forfeited, and the account may be suspended.

Traveling is fine. What counts is where you are each time you play. Cross into an eligible state and cash play opens after the next check. Leave one and only free tournaments are available.

Prefer not to share your location?

You can turn location off and keep playing free tournaments. It is only required for cash play.
