How is my ID information protected?

• A specialist does the check. Your ID photos and selfie go to our identity verification provider, which compares the two and checks for a live person.
• Face data has one job. The facial template is used only to confirm the selfie matches the ID. We ask for your consent before the check where state law requires it.
• It does not stay forever. Biometric data is kept for no more than three years. Other verification records are kept longer because the law requires it.
• Everything travels encrypted. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and only authorized staff can access it.
