How do entry fees work?
Each tournament has a fixed entry fee in cash or acorns, shown before you join. It is taken from your balance when you enter, and part of a cash entry can come from bonus cash.
Choosing a fee
Cash entry fees currently range from $1 to $50, and free tournaments cost a small number of acorns. The fees on offer vary by game and format, and the play screen lists them all.
When you pay
The fee comes out of your balance the moment you join. Entry fees pay for the prize pool, less the platform fee.
Paying with bonus cash
If you have bonus cash, 5% of each cash entry fee is paid from it and the rest from your cash. If your cash runs out, bonus cash can cover the whole fee. See How is bonus cash used in tournaments?
Getting a fee back
Entry fees are refunded in full if a tournament is cancelled, for example when not enough players join. See What happens if a tournament doesn't fill?
